Yami
no Malik is basically the embodiment of Malik's anger and resentment of everything
terrible in his life. He began to take form following the Tomb Keepers Initiation,
Malik received by his father when he was just ten. The further the anger and
hatred escalated, the more his personality began to split. It was when Malik
discovered his father whipping and beating Rishid that he saw red, and all
the hate Malik suffered develop into another - Yami no Malik, a soul based
on nothing but hate and loathing of the world. Seizing the Sennen Rod, he
bludgeoned Maliks father to death with the concealed dagger within, and was
about to repeat the deed on Isis when Malik salvaged control once again.
All through Battle City, it was he, deep in Malik's soul, influencing all
the resentment and hate the young Egyptian felt. By this point, Marik was
six years old as Malik was 16. No more than an anger ridden child with an
intense revulsion for humanity.
Only
when Rishid fell into a coma on the Battle Ship did Marik yet again achieve
in gaining control of Malik's body. throughout his time on the BS, he managed
to send Malik, Mai and Yami no Bakura to the Shadow Realm, and momentarily
kill Joey. He attempted to murder the still comatose Rishid until he was
halted by Yami no Bakura.
When the 'gang' had been abducted into Noa's little computer generated
world, Marik was left undetected on the ship. It was merely when he began
to get fed up of waiting for their return did he venture out...and obliterate
all the computers by smashing them with his Rod while he was at it.
Rather than dueling cleanly, he enjoyed making everything into a lethal
Shadow game. With Mai, every life point she lost, a memory of one of her
friends disintegrated before Marik immobilized and attempted to smite her
with the Winged Dragon of Ra.
During
the duel with Yami no Bakura and Malik, he made it so, that each life point
lost, a segment of their bodies also vanished into the Shadows.
While battling Jou, both players were connected with their monsters, so
when life points were drained, the owner too was drained of energy and caused
a considerable amount of pain no doubt - it was because of this which caused
Joey's 'demise'.
The final duel came between himself and Yami no Yugi. For the fourth instance,
a Shadow Duel was used - each had their hikari's immobilized in midair next
to them. 
Every
point lost made certain their other half lost a fragment of themselves to
the Shadows (similar to the Yami no Bakura duel). First to entirely lose
their other self to the shadows (and consequently, all their life points)
was to be acknowledged the loser. Only when Marik attempted his technique
of merging himself with the Winged Dragon of Ra, was he managed to be defeated.
Rishid had finally woken, and his appearance at the dueling ring gave Malik
back the vigor needed to exchange places with Yami no Malik. With simply
one life point remaining from the fusion with the dragon, Malik forfeited
the duel, in turn, banishing Yami no Malik to the Shadows permanently.
