malik ishtar: Keepers Initiation
At the age of ten years old, Malik had to undergo the Tomb Keepers Initiation, a painful procedure involving his father carving the span of his back via a hot blade to display the ancient Pharaoh's secret. This initiation was passed down to each primary son/heir of the tombs leader for in excess of 3000 years.
Under each eye, Malik also has two scars also from the initiation. Rishid too has these scars.
To prove his loyalty to young master Malik, and to show Malik that he was not alone when it came to having his back scarred, he too tattooed the left half of his face. Rishid wished to take the burden off of Malik having to take the initiation and become a Keeper for the rest of his life.
While Malik detested the fact of his what his future held, Rishid was more than happy to have done this himself, to be officially accepted into the Ishtar Clan. But Mr Ishtar completely declined this idea, wanting only his true son to take the responsibility. Before Malik's birth, his adopted mother agreed for him to do this. But then a true heir was born and the need for him to do this was taken from him.
